Week Beginning 6th July

Another busy week for this young lady! Charlotte has a book called ‘Peppa loves our planet’ where she got ideas from to complete her R.E. activity. She said to help our planet we should put rubbish in the bin, grow our own vegetables and walk more – great ideas we could all follow Charlotte!

Then she had a visit from her cousin Jack and Gracie – they enjoyed performing songs from ‘A Little Nativity’

Charlotte very sensibly used sweets to develop her sharing skills, I bet she did it better than I would do it using sweets – ‘3 for me, one for you!’ 🙂

Charlotte has really gone above and beyond with her learning this week. After reading The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch she actually went to visit a real lighthouse in Hartlepool to help her with her junk modelling! Charlotte then had time to complete her ‘Fair Shares’. Fantastic Charlotte! 🙂

Kurt enjoyed completing this activity about The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch on Purple Mash – Well done Kurt! 🙂

The best part of a trip to the seaside is an ice cream treat – here are a selection of Class 1’s favourite flavours – yummy! 🙂

Ivy or should I say Pirate Ivy has made an amazing start on our ‘Oh I do like to be beside the seaside’ theme and has been sharing out the ‘gold’ coins. She has even made her lighthouse junk model! Absolutely fabulous Ivy 🙂

Millie has been quick to make a start on our new theme too! How delicious do the ice creams look? And that is a very impressive sandcastle – just brilliant Millie! 🙂

Week Beginning 29th June

Kurt and his big brother have really been ‘Sports Stars’ – our theme for this week. They organised their very own family Sport’s Day – and even made the medals to award to the winners! Excellent teamwork boys! 🙂

Yet another busy week for Charlotte! I love how much she has concentrated on learning about halves, I think I’m going to ask her to start making my sandwiches with such great cutting skills! A beautiful poster to show her all of her learning to mark the end of our Friends topic in RE. Well done Charlotte! 🙂

Millie has been working hard on our Maths focus of finding halves of shapes. Also as this week we are ‘Sports Stars’ her medal design is brilliant – she should award herself it for being cool on a skateboard! 🙂

Week Beginning 22nd June

This week our Maths focus was doubles…. look at the great start our Nursery and Reception children have made with this concept! 🙂

Our RE theme has looked at friends and saying sorry and what makes a good friend- look at our self portraits 🙂

As part of our ‘Step Back in Time’ topic the children were encouraged to visit the Blackhall pit memorial to look at the pit wheel. Below are the amazing pictures I received 🙂

Charlotte has been very busy throughout this theme. From making a fabulous Rainbows and Mermaids board game to doing her local history activities. How wonderful to see her ‘Then and Now’ photo too. Well done and thank you Charlotte 🙂

Millie has sent these photos this week – I love seeing the children from Class 1 being so creative and Millie has used lots of different ways to be creative -=from model making to drawing. Well done Millie 🙂

Great to see Emily working hard on her number skills. Subtraction was our focus and Emily completed the activities showing she is beginning to understand this tricky concept. Well done Emily! 🙂

Week Beginning 1st June

‘Step back in time’ is our theme for the next two weeks. Here are a selection of Purple Mash 2Do’s all about looking at toys from today and toys from the past. Thank you to Millie, Joseph, Charlotte, Kurt and Emily.

Ivy has had another busy week – fantastic to see her beautiful writing about her friends – which is our RE topic. Great work on Bug Club too – reading every day is so important, but doing the quizzes is so much fun! 🙂

I love how creative this young lady is – from dressing up to making her Rainbow Fish model! I am so proud of her for doing a letter to her friends – they will be so happy when they see that you’re thinking about them Marnie, well done! 🙂

Week Beginning 25th May – Half Term

Even though it’s half term it’s still brilliant to see what fun learning and adventures Class 1 are getting up to 🙂

Kurt has made the most of the amazing spell of weather – I LOVE the photo of him flying his kite! Lots of fun and still time to do a little bit of number work and writing – Excellent Kurt – keep it up! 🙂

How amazing are these BEE-rothers? I am BUZZing with happiness after hearing what a kind thing they did to rescue this important mini-BEE-ast.

Well done boys – BEE-rilliant! 🙂

Our Helping Others and Kindness theme was perfect for this young lady! Thank you Charlotte for helping at home but also for helping to spread kindness in the community with your beautifully painted pebbles! 🙂

Emily has really enjoyed this week’s theme – Her Rainbow Fish is beautiful, complete with silver scales! She has been counting 1 more to 10 – love how excited she got when she reached the top! For kindness week she has thought about her friends and those she is really missing and drew a lovely picture – I’m sure they’ll love this Emily. However, my favourite picture is of her doing her act of kindness – helping to feed her little brother his snack – what a kind big sister you are 🙂

Jack has been working hard and playing hard this week! Fab phonics Jack and your counting is so good. I love the picture of you being kind to your little sister and being so brave up high on your slide! 🙂

Marnie has been out exploring – looking at nature whilst out and about – what will these tadpoles grow into? 🙂

Big Happy 4th Birthday to Zirian this week – his pressies look like he’s going to do lots of phonics but also make some noise too! I wonder if you can use your drumsticks to beat the sounds you hear in words Zirian? 🙂

Week Beginning 11th May

This week our theme was ‘Helping Others’ and we focused on a very famous nurse, Florence Nightingale. Look at all the messages I got from “Florence” – aren’t I so lucky to receive such fabulous messages from this kind and brave lady?

This young lady always has the biggest smile on her face – and I’m not surprised with all of the fun learning she’s been doing this week. Baking, walking and den building with her big brother- perfectly ended by pizza making – yummy! 🙂

Millie has had a busy week. The high point MUST be making that chocolate cake though – it looks so delicious Millie! 🙂

Wonderful photos from Marnie this week. A great balance of completing her learning activities and being creative and imaginative on the beach!. Marnie’s number formation is really developing – which makes me really proud. Also she understands that talking through our ideas helps to make us better writers – so well done Marnie! (I love my message in your work too) 🙂

Ivy has made a fabulous start on this week’s activities – she has done her Number Bonds to 10 and a gorgeous picture of her Grandma – a brave nurse. 🙂

Dylan is rightly so pleased with himself in this photograph – what an achievement – writing his name! Well done Dylan this will really help you when you start Reception 🙂

Week Beginning 4th May

Arya really enjoyed her VE Day activities – and looking at that cake I wish I could’ve joined her tea party! Thank you for the beautiful poppy too Arya! I loved hearing about your walk down to the beach – and being lucky enough to see a real starfish – how exciting! 🙂

How lovely to see Emmie enjoying her time at home – making the most of her toys and the sunshine. I am especially happy to see Emmie enjoying our story from last week – What the ladybird heard. Which is your favourite part of the story Emmie?

Kurt has clearly enjoyed this week’s theme and learning about VE Day! He has used the theme as a starting point and then moved it on following his interests which resulted in the building of his fantastic model spitfire! I love it Kurt. Another huge learning point for Kurt this week was learning to ride his bike without the stabilisers!! Amazing week Kurt – I look forward to seeing what next week brings for you 🙂

An eventful week for Charlotte! Helping dad at the allotment sharing what she knows about helping plants grow. Then lots of creative work to help celebrate VE Day. Charlotte has also experimented with how soap and water helps to protect us from germs. However, the biggest most wonderful thing Charlotte has done this week is bring her gorgeous new baby sister home. How lucky baby Lucie is to have such a wonderful big sister – I think Lucie knows this and that’s why she’s smiling in the last photo! 🙂

A selection of fabulous VE Day artwork from Class 1

Not only has Arya has been busy doing various activities like you see in her photographs she has also done some of our VE Day themed tasks. The activity which used the two old photographs and asked what were the differences Arya gave well thought out responses, showing excellent observational skills. For example in the 194os school photo she noticed the people were wearing masks, the school jumpers were different, top of the desks were different an in Class 1 we often sit on the floor rather than at a desk! 🙂

Marnie has made a great start with her VE Day themed activities. She made a Bravery Medal for her brother – for always looking after her and look at her beautiful drawing of a poppy. 🙂

Jack has been busy helping Dad look after his little sister – but still found time to bake, make musical instruments, organise his tellytubbies, draw a self portrait, practice forming his numbers and go over his phonics on Bug Club. Jack you deserve a rest! Well Done! 🙂

Week Beginning 27th April

Lovely to see how Emmie is getting on. From her photos it’s clear to see she’s keeping very busy doing lots of fun things – which also are helping her to develop lots of important skills – from her fine and gross motor skills (bike riding and painting), problem solving (egg hunt) to creative and imaginative play! Thank you for sharing Emmie! 🙂

How lovely to hear from Eden and to see that she’s been busy doing her ladybird crafts and looking after her plant which she’s has transferred into the garden. I can’t wait to see how it grows! 🙂

Lovely to see more photos from this young man. The photos perfectly show how much learning can take place by doing practical things around the house like baking – measuring skills, fine motor skills and problem solving! Then after all that learning you get to eat something yummy! 🙂

Great to see that Emily has been busy being creative on Purple Mash. She completed her Halibut Jackson Feelings activity – Looking at her picture what emotion is she feeling?

Ivy has been keeping herself busy – getting on with her weekly tasks and helping to look after her horses. Look closely at the last photograph – Ivy managed to find the main character from this week’s story. I wonder if she asked the ladybird what else they heard? 🙂

Week Beginning 20th April

Charlotte has done amazingly with her Halibut Jackson activities this week. She has explored different feelings on Purple Mash, had her own posh tea party (Halibut went to the Queen’s garden party) and designed and made her own ‘camouflaged’ outfit to blend in just like Halibut! Look very carefully at the last picture Charlotte is there! 🙂

Great job Kurt – creative ways to learn you sounds and High Frequency Words. I love that you are striking a great balance of learning and still having fun. I especially like your stargazing den 🙂

Great to see Millie being so creative with her den, Millie could give excellent reasons as to her choices for the materials and how it would cope in the seasons: “It would be good in all seasons because the pegs were there to hold everything down and the pegs are stronger than the wind”. Great number work too – reading numbers and setting out the corresponding amount of objects. My favourite picture has to be where she is playing schools and is apparently being Mrs Hanley 🙂

WOWZERS! How busy has Ella been keeping? It’s great to see all the skills she has been developing at home, from completing the cardboard tube challenge, making beautiful rainbow pictures and doing her writing and number activities. I have to say I think my favourite is the picture of her with her name made out of Lego! This could be a challenge for us all – what unusual ways can you ‘write’ your name? Thanks for the idea Ella! 🙂

Great to see Millie working hard – setting a great example to her big brother! Super concentration as ever from Millie and a gorgeous smile 🙂

Week Beginning 13th April 2020

Well done to Charlotte for sending me this beautiful Holy Week crucifix- look at her careful colouring in skills – fabulous 🙂

Emily has been accessing activities on Purple Mash on her tablet. She has also done some balloon art – I thought they look like giant Easter eggs 🙂 Both photographs show wonderful concentration and fine motor skills – well done Emily!

Week Beginning 6th April 2020

Arya has been keeping herself busy this week by using flashcards to get to know her sounds. Mam is impressed that Arya is now starting to remember which letter is which! This is fantastic news for me to hear 🙂

Dylan has been on walks to get his daily exercise. At the pit pond he saw some froglets. he has done lots from his home learning pack but more importantly he is learning and developing other important skills such as learning how to ride his bike, building dens, baking, making silky dough with his big brother – lots of creative fun. Well done Dylan! 🙂

Zirian sent me photos of his sunflower seeds which he has just planted.
He emailed to tell me ” I must water my seeds everyday and make sure they have sunlight” I can’t wait to see how this grows over the coming weeks 🙂

Week Beginning 30th March 2020

Emily has enjoyed completing her Gingerbread Man Pattern this week. She has also impressed us with how much her plant is growing!!
Just look at her big smile – she is clearly enjoying watching how her plant grows!
What have you been doing to make it grow Emily?
“I’ve been giving it lots of water and keeping it next to the window to get lots of sunshine.” 🙂

Arya has had fun making lots of crafts this week – great Cardboard Tube Challenge Arya! I also love her caterpillar – how many plates will he be if he ‘grows’ 1 more? How many legs if each plate has 2? Number skills through creativity – brilliant!!! 🙂

Arya’s reply “I used 4 plates for the Caterpillar. 1 more would make 5. Another 2 would make 6.”

Week Beginning 23rd March 2020

Kurt has been keeping busy. He’s been a designer, a baker, a den builder and list maker! I love your Batman inspired biscuits too! 🙂

Well done to Ella for this digital art creating using Purple Mash. I love that you’ve thought about who is the tallest and shortest and then put them in order – great Shape, Space and Measure skills! 🙂

Great to see Jack wearing odd socks to celebrate Lots of Socks Day on 21st March for World Down Syndrome Day.

Thank you Ivy – I can see you’ve been very creative with your cardboard tube challenge – making a beautiful rainbow butterfly! I can’t wait to see what you do with all the worms you found in the garden! 🙂

Such careful colouring by numbers and isn’t it wonderful to see siblings with such big smiles – clearly having fun doing lots of creative activities too! 🙂

More fantastic fine motor skills happening at home with another of our brilliant Nursery pupils! Well done Zirian, keep on smiling 🙂
