Dragon Artwork
In Class 4, the children have followed a tutorial to draw their own dragon. They have produced some fantastic detailed drawings.
This week we took part in World Nursery Rhyme Week. Nursery rhymes help us to develop our vocabulary, language, literacy skills and maths skills. Each day we will focus on a different nursery rhyme and have different activities and opportunities avaliable in class. More information can be found here.
Miss Polly had a Dolly
This week we changed our role-play area into a doctor’s surgery.
The children took on a variety of roles and made links with their experiences. We heard lots of vocabulary throughout the week.
“My baby is getting her flu jab.” Emmie”
”Who’s next?” Charlotte
Writing played a big part in their play, taking messages, making appointments and writing prescriptions.
Hickory Dickory Dock
We practised our programming skills to see if we could get the mouse up the clock.
Five Little Speckled Frogs/Old McDonald Had A Farm
We used the parachute alongside our nursery rhymes in PE. The children enjoyed ‘jumping into the pool’ and being in the farm.
Wheels on the Bus
The children checked the timetable to see what time the bus was coming. They waited patiently for it to arrive.
The driver checked the tickets before letting the passengers on the bus. The passengers were all going to different places.
“I’m going to Africa,” said Charlotte.
“I am going to the beach.” Emily
Remembrance Art Work
The children in Class 4 have created some fantastic art work this week around our remembrance theme. They all showed such resilience and were very proud of the work they had produced.
“It’s the best piece of art I’ve ever done’
Joel Year 5
Lest We Forget…
The children in Year 5 and Year 6 added a heart to the remembrance tree this week to show who they remember which is displayed in school across the month of November.
Remembrance Learning
This week as well as our class book called One Boy’s War we have created poppies. The children have produced some excellent diary entries from Sidney, the lead character in this emotional and powerful story about a 15 year old boy from County Durham in World War 1. We also linked our Pointillism theme when we created pictures on Purple Mash.
Children in Need
We had a great day celebrating Children in Need.
Remembrance Day 2020
This week we have been learning about Remembrance Day. We have been learning all about why we commemorate Remembrance Day, we have learned about the sacrifices made by brave young people, who risked and sometimes gave their lives in war, so that we may live in peace.
We shared the poem Poppy Poppy which tells us what Remembrance Day is all about.
Listen to the poem here:
At 11am we observed the 2 mintue silence, the children were very respectful.
Remembrance Day
We created our own thank you poems to say thank you to all of the soldiers for their amazing sacrifice.
We also had a class Liturgy where we wrote our own prayers. We even made our own poppy wreaths. Well done class two, you were so respectful today.
