Characteristics of a Reader

Implementation
Our pupils should be able to organise their knowledge, skills and understanding around the following

These key concepts, underpin learning in each milestone. This enables pupils to reinforce and build upon prior learning, make connections and develop subject specific language.

Reading Plus is an adaptive reading solution that integrates comprehension, vocabulary, motivation and reading efficiency into one programme. Reading Plus is used across KS2 to engage and support children with their reading it assesses efficiency, but also measures and increases motivation and comprehension.

Impact
Assessment
Through the explicit teaching of the Reading skills, both the teachers and the pupils assess their learning continuously throughout the lesson. Our assessment systems enable teachers to make informed judgements about the depth of their learning and the progress they have made over time.
Pupil Voice
We use Reading Plus to help us with our reading speed and to answer questions about what we have read. I love getting combos, because you level up and that means you’re making progress.

I enjoy the class books that we read together, because we read it and then talk about what has happened. My favourite book has been ‘The Curse of the Maya’.

I love reading books like Harry Potter, because I find them interesting and I really enjoy them. J.K. Rowling is my favourite author.
