Prayer is central to life at St. Joseph’s. It is part of the daily routine and takes place throughout the course of the school day in a range of different ways. Children say a variety of traditional prayers, as well as their own prayers, led by the children’s faith and the needs of the world. Staff are committed to the prayer life of the school and support children in developing and leading the opportunity for both planned and incidental prayer across the school. Every catholic school needs prayer leaders, as we believe that working together to follow Jesus’ examples, can produce amazing results.
“Working together we can achieve more”
Hebrews 10:24
As Prayer Leaders, we are:
-
Role models for others in our school.
-
Serving the school and the community by supporting the prayer life within school.
-
Supporting community-based events in school.
-
Working together as a team to carry out tasks to the best of our ability.
In our role as Prayer Leaders:
-
We support and encourage prayer across all classes and age ranges.
-
We help everyone to participate fully in traditional prayers.
-
We write our own prayers to offer comfort, support, and to encourage others to feel more deeply connected to God.
-
We think of different ideas for prayer and share them to inspire others to pray in many different ways.
-
We support Mrs Ashton and other teachers with whole school prayer and collective worship.
-
We take care of our prayer spaces across school and look after our resources.
