Please join us as we begin our season of waiting during Advent.
First week of Advent
On the first week of Advent, we light one purple candle, representing HOPE.
Class 1
We marked the start of Advent by decorating our classroom for Christmas. The children thought about what they could do to help others during this time. These promises will be displayed on our focal table.
Class 2
Class 3
Class 3 have lit the advent wreath and created advent calendars. They have decorated the Christmas tree as a way to prepare.
“We put kind words into our calendar to countdown for the birth of Jesus.” Niall (Year 3)
Class 4
Children in class 4 have participated in a liturgical prayer for the first Sunday of Advent.
“I’m hopeful that people in need will have food and somewhere to sleep.” Mia (Year 5)
“I am hopeful that people will have families and friends around them this Christmas.” Annabell (Year 6)
“I hope that people show love to one another.” Ashton (Year 5)
“I am hopeful that the sick and unwell get better.” Kacie (Year 6)
Second week of Advent
On the second week of Advent, we light two purple candles, representing Peace.
All children in school received a gift of chocolate coins and prayer card for St. Nicholas’ Day.
Class 1
We learnt about the Advent wreath. The children drew their own wreath, remembering all the coloured candles and green for the evergreen wreath.

We wrote prayers to ask God for the peace of Christ this Advent.
Class 4
Third week of Advent
On the second week of Advent, we light two purple candles, representing Joy.
All children in school received a gift of a candle and prayer card for St. Lucy’s Day.
Class 1
After performing A Bundle of Joy, the children retold the Nativity story in different ways.
Class 2
The third Sunday of Advent is Gaudete Sunday. Gaudete means joy. The children thought about what brings them joy.
Class 3
We are over halfway through Advent and in class 3 we are feeling really excited for Christmas. On Gaudete Sunday we can rejoice because Christ is near. We made cards to spread joy to the people we know.
