Today we went round to the garden to carry out some observational drawing. We all found a spot and looked at our surroundings, we then set to work drawing.

Being outdoors is an important part of our learning in Class 1. Take a look at what we have been up to this week.
It was lovely to welcome all of Class 1 back today. The children have had lots of fun catching up with friends, exploring the areas and sharing news.
“I like coming to school.” Marnie
“I liked playing with the cars.” Joseph
“ I love playing in the blocks with Eden.” Lewis
We started the day by sharing our whole school book ‘What We’ll Build’ by Oliver Jeffers.
Nurturing Nature–How can we look after our planet?
Transcient Art
We ended the day with a game of Catchphrase, the children enjoyed it and they want to play again tomorrow.
This week we have been learning about Chinese New Year. We explored the different traditions, dragon dances and even found out which animal we were.
Here are some of the wonderful cards the children have made:
The children used traditional colours and included dragons, lanterns and fireworks.
Congratulations to Eden and Zirian on completing Rust level on our new maths game Numbots.
Well done Dylan on 2nd place in Class 1.
Well done Ben
Snow isn’t just for building snowmen, look at the wonderful marks Charlotte made with food colouring.
Today was Safer Internet Day, we listened to a song to help us remember how we can stay safe online.
The children helped the three pigs when someone was being unkind online.
“The pigs would be feeling sad.” Imogen
“I would tell my Mam and Dad.” Charlotte
The children thought about how they could be kind online.
Emily said that she would let her friends play with her and that she would only play with friends and family.
Sometimes in Class 1 our learning is spontaneous, today we changed what we were planning to do because we got snow.
The children were excited as they watched the snow fall and couldn’t wait to go outside and explore.
“I’m catching snow flakes.” Zirian
Imogen made a tiny snowman.
We didn’t miss an opportunity to practise phonics and letter formation. Can you see the letter in the snow?
Emily liked making footprints and making snowballs.
Emily said, “The snow is really cold mammy I like touching it.”
Even Miss Coxon wasn’t safe from the snowballs.
Once upon a time the children of Class 1 explored a different fairy tale each week.
The children had opportunities to write:
to draw:
to roleplay:
