After a busy morning in class we went outside just before dinner time when Ben noticed the daffodils were starting to bloom. So we decided we pop into our Rainbow Garden. We loved seeing lots of daffodils all in full bloom.
Measuring Monday
This morning we all explored measuring. Little J’s Were challenged to find items that were longer or shorter than a piece of string we gave them.
Reception had to predict how many cubes their pieces of string were and check their guesses. A very busy and fun morning with lots of maths vocabulary being shared by all 📏😊
Keeping safe…keeping clean!
We talked about what we had seen on the news or heard our grown ups talk about. Our children shared valuable tips on how we can all stay safe.
“ I saw IBTV news and it’s all over!” Adam
“We have to wash to keep safe” Millie
“Make bubbles with the soap to make the germs go” Charlotte
Curi-ICE-ity 😊 ❄️❄️❄️

Class visit to Seven Stories
As part of our World Book Day activities Class 1 were lucky enough to visit Seven Stories for a workshop called ‘Elmer and friends”.
We arrived and met the Tiger Who Came for Tea. Then we went into the Elmer gallery before going to the activity room where we built houses for Elmer’s friends and brought back the colours of the rainbow through our pictures.
After lunch we explored more before heading up to the Attic for the best storyteller we’ve ever heard!
Three stories later, it was time to get the bus back to school. The children were wonderful, so respectful to each other, staff at Seven Stories and other visitors. A great day was had by all.
“What was the favourite part of our visit?” – Mrs Hanley
“All of it!” – Adam
“(My)Packed lunch!” – Lewis
“The storyteller” – Ben
“The pictures for Elmer” – Ella
SUPERHEROES ASSEMBLE!
Class 1 have started the new half term with their new topic of Superheroes. We have started with the books Supertato and Ten Little Superheroes.
The children used Supertato’s friends (new potatoes) to count up to 20 before Evil Pea appeared and told them to take 1 or 2 away.
We also worked in groups to design and build superhero bases and evil genius lairs. Mwah ha ha!
More Superhero work to follow as the term progresses.
Storytelling in Class 1
We were very excited to open our new storytelling hats. We each chose a hat and took turns to sit on the Hot Seat and pretend to be that character. Ben was Peter Pan and told us “I got here by flying, Tinkerbell came too but she’s hiding!” [Read more…]

Some of our gorgeous nursery children have started to look at the characters from our Oxford Reading Tree books. They have even been making their own stories up about them!
Outdoor Explorers
Little J’s enjoyed their first Outdoor Explorers of the year on Monday morning. Reception joined them on Tuesday afternoon. They were so curious asking lots of wonderful questions and giving their thoughts on what they found!
