For World Down Syndrome Day 2022, we are asking: What does inclusion mean?
We celebrated our differences and similarities. The children noticed that they are different heights, have different hair colour or may be good at different things but regardless of this we all want to be included.
In Class 1 we decided inclusion means:
Take a look at our fantastic odd sock designs.
The theme of ‘Growth’ inspired us to think about things that grow. After lots of discussion we planted our own sunflower seed. We are excited to watch them grow.

Key Stage 2 were visited by PCSO Ian Goodwin who gave them some brilliant tips and advice about how to stay safe online. He also discussed the importance of showing kindness and respect to one another.
He even brought some uniform for the children to try on.
It really suits them!
PCSO Ian Goodwin visited school to talk to Class 1 and 2 about how the police can help us, stranger danger and water safety. The children listened carefully and had the opportunity to ask questions. They finished off by trying on some of the uniform.
As we prepare to start attending mass again Father Ian very kindly invited us to spend some time in church. Father Ian showed us around and we had the chance to ask questions. The children showed respect, friendship, excellence and care throughout their visit and all the adults were very proud.
We have been reading the story Whatever Next! by Jill Murphy. In the story Baby Bear makes his own rocket and goes to the moon. We gathered the same resources and recreated the journey to the moon.
The children took on different roles within the scenario and were able to switch roles. They were excited to be Baby Bear and be caught in the rain.
There was even some problem solving going on with some children finding a better hat because it didn’t have holes in.
