Scout Ed with Mr Baker is so much fun. On Friday, we created amazing pieces of art using natural resources and we also made our own repeating patterns with string and leaves.

Y2 have enjoyed making 2D shapes from straws. We can name 2D shapes now and count their sides and vertices.
Children in Class 4 received an invitation from the children in Class 1 to join them for Afternoon tea. A group of children worked with Mrs. Hall to help prepare the food and drinks. We focussed on being a positive role model for the younger children and demonstrating our cove values of respect, friendship, excellence and care.
Working alongside Mr Baker from Sc.out.ed, children have worked in groups to gather the necessary materials to build and maintain a fire (safely) for 15 minutes. They worked together to gather tinder, kindling and firewood so that they could keep their fire burning. They showed resilience and all enjoyed success! The session was finished with s’mores- which were delicious.
Children worked cooperatively, developing team-work skills and resilience to use a key and create a hidden message. They then used the key to decipher one another’s messages. The children’s communication skills, perseverance and determination was excellent!
Children in Class 4 have been exploring forms of Viking travel. They have looked at Viking longships and sketched them including key features such as the mast, keel, dragon head prow, shields and sail.
Following the children’s interests we listened to the story Superworm. There was lots of discussion around the book and it led to us looking at facts about worms.
We worked together to create a wormery to watch the wonderful worms at work.
We are waiting patiently for the worms to settle into their new home.
The children have had great fun exploring and learning in our outdoor area.
We were very lucky to secure funding from the Neighbourhood Budget Small Grants and The Catherine Cookson Charitable Trust which has helped us to develop our outside environment.
Being outside offers lots of learning opportunities and helps to promote a healthy body and mind.
