We really enjoyed weaving in art today.

Children in Class 4 participated in a liturgy for the 5th Sunday of Easter. We listened to the scripture and thought about ‘I am’ statements and the ways in which we contribute.
We’ve been approached by some of our partners, they’ve been allocated some funding to support children, young people and families over school holidays with free holiday activities / programs / projects, all of these projects will run across County Durham, and will provide food/meals for those that take part. It is a little bit of a spin on the previous, much smaller scale ‘holiday hunger’ projects that have been ran in previous years, but offers much more opportunity for development etc.
We’ve been asked to consult with children and young people to ensure that the money is being spent in the right way, offering the right activities, food etc. as a result, we’re carrying out an online consultation to find out what children and young people want.
Please see the link below we would greatly appreciate if you would encourage your children and young people to complete the survey, the money is there to be spent on them.
This consultation will close Mid May so we can provide a report of findings with partners.
Thank you!
DYC Members.
Construction materials provide a wealth of opportunities for children to practise maths while using their imagination and making links to real-life.
On this occasion the children worked together to interpret plans, count resources and build their castle.
Children in Class 4 have enjoyed some great success, with completing weaving using lolly pop sticks. They showed great perseverance in order to learn and apply the new skill and they were very proud of the outcome.
On a Friday morning we are participating in Scout.ed with Mr Baker. This week we went out into the field and to the garden to look for minibeasts.
We then used this as a basis for today’s writing.
Children in Class 4 have loved beginning working with the Foundation of Light on a computing unit this half term. Using Sphero bots the children programmed the bots to move and completed challenges including drawing shapes and navigating the Sphero around the floor mat.
After reading the story Jasper’s Beanstalk we had a go at making our own beanstalk in a bag.
Once the bean was in a bag we stuck in to the window so it could be in the sunlight. We are watching and waiting patiently just like Jasper did.
There was an air of excitement in Class 1 this morning when they found out they were going to become authors. We are writing a book based on our beanstalks. Here is a sneak peak:
Our class Liturgy this week was based on our Statement to live by which is ,
’I know how to help others when they are in trouble.’
We read the story of The Good Samaritan and talked about how we could help someone who might be in trouble. Mrs Hoggarth was really proud of our ideas, as we gave lots of examples of how we could show respect, friendship, excellence and care.
“We could help someone if they fall over.” Tia
“ If someone is lonely we can play with them.” Lucas
