What a fantastic day!
Today we visited Beamish Museum to see Father Christmas. The children were excited as they approached the grotto.
We then headed to the town where we visited the different shops and had lunch.
We took a short tram ride to the pit village and visited the Victorian school. The children spotted lots of differences compared to our school.
It really helped get us in the Christmas spirit.
Today, 28th November 2021, marks the First Sunday of Advent. Today the first purple candle was lit on the Advent Wreath at Mass. Below you will find an online Advent Calendar from Cafod, which has many useful links. There is also a link to some Advent resources that you can use at home as a family. We hope that you find these resources useful as we journey together towards Christmas.

During Anti-Bullying week, Children were led in a liturgical prayer by Class 1 where they listened to the importance of being kind and helpful towards others. Children took part in various different activities and all thought of one kind word to describe one another.
When the children arrived this morning they were keen to talk about the snow. Following their interests we went outside to explore.
“It’s cold,” Harriet said.
We used our fine motor skills to make marks in the snow.
After holding some snow in their hand, one of the children noticed that it was getting smaller. “It’s melting,” said Koby. We then experimented with different methods to melt the ice.
Harriet noticed that if she rubbed her hands together with the ice in the middle it melted quicker.
Using utensils they rescued leaves that were encased in ice.
We had the best day celebrating Children in Need. We enjoyed making Pudsey crafts and performing a Pudsey puppet show.

In Class 1 we use lots of kind words.
With the help of Year 6 we led a liturgical prayer based around ‘one kind word.’ The children were respectful throughout and shared a kind word with others in school.
Mr Baker was very impressed with how well we worked together to make shelters using natural resources. Well done Class 1.
This week we talked a lot about remembrance. The children asked lots of questions and were exposed to new vocabulary about the topic.
They found out about a local solider called Norman and looked at some of his possessions.
They carried out some observational drawings of poppies.
We worked together to create our own cenotaph inspired by the one in London.
Mrs Hall very kindly brought in some equipment that the Royal Navy use today. She told us about all the different things and we even got to try them on.
